Black Ops 3 nets Call of Duty’s first Australian R18+ label

4.7
Call of Duty has been hit with an adults only rating in Australia.

Black Ops 3 has received an R18+ rating from the Australian Classification Board.

It’s the first time the annual shooter series has been rated above MA15+ – a much more holiday gift-friendly category.

The classification references high impact violence as well as as strong impact themes. Hmm! Not a lot of information for caregivers to go on when little Johnny demands one of the hottest titles of the year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 launches on PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 6. It looks like PEGI and the ESRB are yet to return classification.

Parents will still buy this for their children anyways, but why BO3 given a adult only rating in Austraila? The only games I can think of that got a similar rating was an earlier GTA which had nudity in it.

There's no point, as parents will still buy it for their children anyway,

I don't understand how BO3 is R18+ but World at War wasn't, like that game was super gory and had tons of blood. Maybe the zombies and the campaign is worse then the multiplayer because from the beta this isn't that bad of a game.

I live in the UK so this doesn't affect me but I think parents will still buy it for their children in Australia anyway

This will barely do any difference. I'd be surprised if it did any difference at all.

I dont think anybody cares about the age ratings, people will still buy it for their kids underage or not

I also doubt that this will make a difference. If parents will buy 16+ for their kids, I don't see why they wouldn't do the same with 18+ lol.
