Microsoft Now Allows For Purchase of Separate Xbox One Power Supply

4.5
Until just recently, if your Xbox One was not under warranty, obtaining a replacement power supply brick was impossible. After fan complaints, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb confirmed on Reddit that the option to purchase an additional power supply has been added to Microsoft’s support website.

Owners can ship back their out-of-commission power supply and receive the new one for $35, or simply order a replacement for $50. The Xbox One must be registered on Microsoft’s site before purchase options become available.

This is what Major Nelson had to say after fan’s complaints:

Hey gang, I have an update on this. I have worked w/ the Support team and we’ve enabled the option to purchase additional Xbox One power supply units via https://myservice.xbox.com

I have not had a chance to check it out myself yet – but the team just emailed me to let me know they have added that option to the online tool.

Thanks!

Larry

DeluxeHazard Why are people needing new power supplies and how are they getting damaged/broken?

I was thinking the same thing, why do you need a new one haha

I don't know why they just don't sell them as a regular item, why you would need to go through the service center, I mean they sell Xbox 360 power cords.

Sometimes they just fail, other times people buy used consoles on eBay and they just don't come with power cables, also moving the console, you pull cords out, ect.

DeluxeHazard_Jr I thought they already did this? i mean why wouldn't they lol

It probably wasn't a priority at the time, they've been busy working on the new dash and backwards compatibility.

True... I do hope they put alot of the good games on XB1 aswell.
