Microsoft rolled out the first iteration of the August system software update for Xbox One for preview members, numbered xb_rel_1508.150712-2200.

The update starts with what is identified as “minor changes,” which are not user facing, meaning that basically nothing changes for us, but it’s in preparation for future updates.

KNOWN ISSUES
Mass Effect Backward Compatibility: When streaming Mass Effect using Twitch through Snap, a black bar is output on the stream output (both in the browser and through the Twitch app).
Turtle Beach Elite 800X Headset: Participants using this headset are unable to hear the host when moving from one party to another party.
Xbox Fitness: When resuming from Instant-On mode and with Xbox Fitness suspended, you may encounter a frozen Kinect preview image, and Kinect interaction will not resume.Workaround: Hard reboot the console.

If you’re not part of the preview program, but would like to try it out, you can mention it in the comments (including your gamertag), and another reader might be able to send you an invite.

Just remember that this is a beta test program, so you understand and accept the responsibility for any issues caused to your console. Preview members are exposed to non-final versions of the system software to make the launch of each patch smoother for everyone else, and not just to get a sneak peek on future.
