Bungie “hated” Halo’s Combat Evolved subtitle

4.7
Bungie was none to keen on what Microsoft ended up calling the first Halo game. “Everyone” at the developer “hated” the Halo: Combat Evolved name even, designer Jaime Grisemer has revealed.

Apparently Microsoft felt that Halo wasn’t descriptive enough of a name for a videogame brand, unlike competing military games at the time. Regardless, Bungie stuck to its guns and reached a compromise where Microsoft marketing could add a subtitle, even if “everyone at Bungie hated it.”

Ever the optimist, Grisemer does see a bright side to the disagreement: “But it turned out to be a very sticky label and has now entered the gaming lexicon to the point where articles that have nothing to do with Halo get titles like ‘Skateboarding Evolved’. So I guess in hindsight it was a good compromise.”

V Haha. Or Halo: That game with a rather complicated name cause we couldn't decide on a subtitle so we used this instead......evolved.

Its not terrible, they could have called it "HALO: Fighting for the human race against multiple types of aliens"
