Fallout 4 isn’t coming to PS3 or Xbox 360 as it “will never work”

4.6
Fallout 4 isn’t in development for last-gen consoles, despite what the official website’s source code showed earlier this week.

According to a post on NeoGAF from Bethesda’s global community lead Matt Grandstaff, Fallout 4 will skip last-gen because the “stuff we’re doing will never work there,” he said.

When Bethesda officially announced Fallout 4 on June 3, neither PS3 nor Xbox 360 were mentioned, which isn’t really much of a surprise. The source code, which I am not super great at interpreting for any website, may have been referring to other content on the back end.

Whatever the case, it’s for PC, PS4 and Xbox One only.

Bethesda’s E3 showcase will take place the Sunday evening before E3 and the media will get a 20-30 minute behind closed doors demo at the annual E3 show. Hopefully, we’ll learn more about the latest entry in the series come June 14.

So because a game is multi-platform it's suddenly not a "good game"? In what way would making Fallout a PC exclusive game benefit Bethesda at all? The only differences between current-gen and PC would be higher FPS / graphic fidelity (if you can handle it) and mod support. There's no magic "PC Master Race" switch that's flipped once a game is a PC exclusive. last-gen is 10 years old, the difference between them and current-gen is huge; the difference between current-gen and PC is little.

There's no advantage PC has over current-gen that will make it any better of a game. Unless you aren't satisfied with anything but the best looking game possible and wouldn't play the game otherwise, it shouldn't matter to the vast majority of PC gamers that this is a multi-plat game. In fact, PC gamers can crank up the settings to as high as they want, consoles won't affect them at all. It'd be a poor decision on Bethesda's part for them to make this a PC only game, they'd be making a fraction of the total sales they would have selling to current-gen AND PC.

Don't post unless you don't know what you're on about, and comparing any semi-decent gaming PC to a Xbone/PS4 is utterly ridiculous. I played BF4 on a PS4 the other day and turned into a 1960's cinema when a tank exploded. And talk about lack of anti-aliasing. You'd think running these games on current hardware would be fine...Especially when using a 10 year old resolution, but no.

More and more of these games will not be coming onto PS3 and Xbox 360 which isn't a surprise.

N-W-A I hope all games do this. Last gen is holding us back

An consoles are holding PC's back, I expect many games getting downgraded so that they can run smooth on consoles.

To be honest, i'm not surprised. The game won't look as good and won't run anywhere near as well as it would on new GEN

Glad this isn't on last gen. Also thisgame is meant for both consoles and pcs.

Tread carefully PC Master Race Nerds vs Console Fanboys war lurks beneath this post...

Anyhoo...
I'm not surprised that it's not coming to past-gen consoles, and kinda glad at the same time. It's been a over a year since next-gen was released and it's about time for people to start upgrading imo anyways.

There is a magic "PC Master Race" button.
If they made the game PC exclusive they wouldn't have to worry about porting the game over to consoles. Which means more work/resources would go into refining the game.

Honestly,
Past Bethesda games on console are far far more inferior than the PC counter parts.
Mod support is a big factor.

PC has a Big Advantage over Current gen.
It's funny that you say graphics isn't that big of a deal when every time a game is released people worry about 1080p@60fps...

Some games were meant for console, some were meant for PC.
This just so happens to be one of the ones meant for PC..
