Minecraft 1.8.5 Release To Address New “Security Issue”

4.5
Mojang has released another security patch for Minecraft updating the game to version 1.8.5.

A previous security update was released in April bringing the game to version 1.8.4. It was released after a vulnerability was found which allowed users to remotely crash servers.

The update fixed reported security issues along with bug fixes such as issues with invalid beacon effects, better server validation for movement packets and more.

Mojang states the patch is fully compatible with all previous versions of 1.8 and highly recommends updating to 1.8.5 “as soon as possible.”

A list of notable fixes are posted below with more information available through the developer blog.

[Bug MC-79632] – Phantom Custom Player in Scoreboard / UUIDs of non-player entities on scoreboards truncated after relog
[Bug MC-75630] – Exploit with signs and command blocks
[Bug MC-80478] – Better server validation for movement packets
[Bug MC-80479] – Invalid beacon effects are not validated
[Bug MC-80480] – Certain attribute values are not bound

Sanctyy I can't believe this game still has so many dedicated, die hard fans. It gets so boring so quickly. I mean, it was alright to play every now and again, years ago though.

RyujiTakasu Hopefully they fix the issue with Signs, on some servers they are still abused.

I think if a player owns a private server, they should be allowed to do what they want with their signs. If it's public, then sure, but private servers, that's going to be most of the time with friends, where they really won't care with what's going on.
