Xbox Founder Believes Xbox One Won’t Catch Up To PS4

4.5
The man that lead the development of the original Xbox, Ed Fries, weighed in on who he thinks is winning the current console war, and it’s not his old employer.

Ed Fries is the former vice president of game publishing for Microsoft. In the late 1990’s, he lead the team that developed the Xbox, and went on to play a key role in making studios like Bungie, Ensemble, and Rare develop games exclusively for the console.

Talking with the Puget Sound Business Journal, Fries laid out a very honest and blunt assessment of how he thinks the cards will fall during this console generation. “The two sides say nice things about each other; they compliment each other’s cool games,” he said. “It looks to me like most of the excitement is kind of over in the console war for this generation. It looks like Microsoft is gaining a little traction back, but PS4 got a really early lead that will be hard for Microsoft to catch.” When asked who he thinks will be in front at the end, he said “I think it’s PS4 by a nose.”

The real question is "will consoles ever catch up to PCs?" The answer: Probably not.

It probably wont catch up to PS4 but I will still always be a Xbox fan for life.

I think if you've been playing for a number of years you'll tend to stick with what you know and prefer. I had a 360 and a PS3 but I played my 360 100x more, personally I think the online is better, the controller is nicer to hold and I've got all my games on there, gamerscore, friends etc. So naturally I got an Xbox One. even though I think in terms of hardware the PS4 is ahead of it, which is a shame and surprising considering how close the last generation of the 2 companies' consoles were.

This is weird to me only because I figured xbox had more of a fanbase than playstation. Guess that was my opinion and it was wrong.

XGN_Jr Both consoles should work together and make one big console.
The consoles should remain separate. Separate consoles means the two companies will always be trying to outdo each other, which equals cheaper consoles and other services. If they'd combine, they could charge a ridiculas amount with no opponents.

GMS Pretty much everyone on youtube and on TTG seem to have Xbox Ones?

Mostly because they were all accustomed to the Xbox 360 and went to the Xbox One since all of their friends stayed on the Xbox.
