CoD: Black Ops 3 director says game is still in 'pre-pre Alpha'

4.7
Activision recently made the official announcement for the newest installment in the highly popular Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. This year's game is being developed by Treyarch, the studio behind the previous two Black Ops games, and it is scheduled to launch on Nov. 6.

The game is slated to receive a beta as we get closer to launch, and perhaps we'll find out when exactly the alpha will happen at E3 2015. Looking at today though, we may have received an update on the current progress of Black Ops 3.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Design Director David Vonderhaar talked about the game's current condition. "We are still pre-pre Alpha. I am a details guy and can talk about design all day, but you don't start [tightening] the screws till Beta," said.

For a game that is slated to be released this coming November, "pre-pre Alpha" is an interesting state for the game to be in. We'll have to rely on the fact that just about anytime a Call of Duty game has launched, the state of the game has been relatively stable. But then again, this is Treyarch's first game to arrive on the PS4 and Xbox One, perhaps they are experiencing some issues.

Even with the variables of having to develop a game on these new consoles, Black Ops 3 should be optimized and ready for launch come Nov. 6. He went on to comment on folk's questions regarding the beta and what he's looking for from them. "In all honesty, the best way to help me is to slide into that Beta so we have a large dataset when we go to final day 1 tuning," Vonderhaar said.

Betas have been a great way for developers to gain valuable insights into what should be improved for a game's online components, and what works well. Black Ops 3 will be the first Call of Duty game to embrace a beta, and it should be a nice chance for players to get a grasp on what Treyarch has in mind for this year's multiplayer experience.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is slated to arrive on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on Nov. 6. You can pre-order the game now to ensure you will receive access to the upcoming beta, which does not yet have a date.

Reptrain I m just hoping this game is better than Ghosts and Advanced Warfare !

It seems like Treyarch is taking the same approach as AW with Blops3, granted it's not looking as "hectic" as AW, but still the same approach.

Hopefully they can nail Multiplayer and Zombies down, don't really care too much for the campaign.
