Twitch Plays Pokemon manages to catch them all

4.5
To celebrate the birth of the anarchy-fuelled Twitch Plays Pokemon, Twitch has been playing it again. The goal, this time, was to fill up the Pokedex in Pokemon Red – no small feat when its the masses choosing the inputs.

But they’ve done it anyway.

It took around 40 days, and a huge number of inputs, but the collective managed to catch all 151 Pokemon on the hacked version of Pokemon Red.

It’s the sort of heartwarming story that feels very appropriate for Pokemon. Anything is possible when thousands of slightly bored people band together to type up, down, a, b or just random spam into Twitch chat. It’s what Ash would do.

So what’s next? Well, it’s still going, and people are still playing, so I guess more Pokemon.

Took long probably because of all the spam.

I honestly didn't know Twitch was even playing Pokemon again. I know it had a huge hype when they first started playing Red, but when they went to Hoenn, the hype had died down quite a lot and I didn't watch any further, so I was unaware they went in any further, I do believe I heard talks about them playing Diamond, Pearl or Platinum or Black and White, but I'm not sure if that ever sprung up. Was definitely an interesting concept, frustrating to watch at times due to the people spamming "start" and the god-forbidden Rocket Warehouse on the spin tiles but nonetheless, watching them play through Red was worth it to me.

40 days straight of people telling it what to do, that's outstanding. They must've been able able to get all 3 starting Pokemon because it was hacked.
