Twitch resets user passwords following hack

4.6
Twitch announced that there may have been some “unauthorized access” to some users’ accounts and information.

Twitch has sent emails to users it believes were affected by this hack, and revealed a few more details in the process.

“We are writing to let you know that there may have been unauthorized access to some of your Twitch user account information, including possibly your Twitch username and associated email address, your password, the last IP address you logged in from, limited credit card information (card type, truncated card number and expiration date), and any of the following if you provided it to us: first and last name, phone number, address, and date of birth,” reads the email.

“PLEASE NOTE: Twitch does not store or process full credit or debit card information, so your card number is safe.

“While we store passwords in a cryptographically protected form, we believe it’s possible that your password could have been captured in clear text by malicious code when you logged into our site on March 3rd.”

billmanbob Got this email yesterday, then today someone starts spending money on my debit card from the other side of the United states... Not saving the card number is bull. Had to deal with the bank today 700 bucks worth of charges :/

They do not have your CC information. If they did they'd have to report it. Also, it wouldn't be held in plain text.

I got a few emails about my account getting compromised. I was not even aware that Twitch was a victim of a hack.

Don't use Twitch. Might have got an e-mail about this but I don't really care. My account has been unused since it was first created.

-Skittle So does this only affect people who logged in on the 3rd of March?

No this affects everyone. I think they didn't really specify.

I got afraid when I received the email saying my account was logged into an unauthorized location. I couldn't change my password. Good thing the passwords expired and were force to be changed.

The good thing in that they don't store your credit card number and at least they have fixed there problems and reset everyone's passwords just in case anything did happen.
