Microsoft planning new ‘hardcore’ Xbox One controller claim rumours

4.7
Rumours from GDC suggest that Microsoft is designing an alternative controller for the Xbox One, more suited to shooters and racing games.

There was a big fuss made about the redesigned Xbox One controller when it was first released, with Microsoft insisting that it featured 40 improvements over the Xbox 360 joypad.

Although the public reception was relatively muted, with many considering it only a minor advancement at best, it’s still widely considered to have a least a slight edge on the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4.

Why then Microsoft would need a ‘hardcore’ controller is unclear, but website Neowin implies that it will primarily be aimed at first person shooter and driving games. They even suggest that the new controller could be unveiled as soon as E3 in June.

It’s not clear exactly what is meant by a hardcore controller, but presumably it would be something along the lines of the controllers produced by third parties such as Razer and Scuf Gaming.

These tend to be more expensive than a standard gamepad, although presumably Microsoft feels a hardcore gamer would be willing to make that sacrifice.

I love the Xbox One controller. It is so much better than the 360 one. Only thing I would change if I could would be the bumpers. Those buttons seem harder to press than the 360 bumpers (though I am used to them now.) The controller is totally fine other than that in my opinion. The D-pad still feels weird to use, but I am not sure anything would feel right in that spot, lol.

Personally, I prefer the One controller over the 360's design. It looks sleeker and more user friendly.

Hopefully it is true, would love to see a new design. Even though it's pretty nice as it already is.

Monster-Munch Well that's good but I do hope they make the controller a little smaller as I think the xbox one controller is massive.

They already sell a smaller one go to walmart

It's not even that big. It's for normal sized hands. I guess it would be a little too big for women but it is perfectly fine. The controller is the best part of the xbox one I think.

Tet
-Swift The only thing that I could think of is that they are going to add buttons on the back.

That seems pretty hardcore to me.

So a Xbox made Scuf? GG Scuf.

Haha exactly what I was thinking!
