Microsoft pushes new firmware for Xbox One controllers in Preview

4.7
Now that Microsoft is back on track with monthly updates for its Xbox One console, users should also be reminded to update their controllers with the new firmware that’s being released.

As part of the February update, to be publicly released soon, Microsoft is also pushing a small firmware update for its wireless controllers. The new firmware brings some “stability improvements” which weren’t detailed but also bring must faster connection times between the controller and the Xbox.

Right now, only users in the Preview program can take advantage of the new features but, rest assured that after being beta tested the firmware will arrive on all devices.

To update a controller you’ll need to physically connect it to the Xbox One via a USB cable, then go into Settings and hit the “update a controller” button. The whole process takes a couple of minutes but you won’t be able to use the controller in that time. And, of course, each controller needs to be updated separately.

Besides the improvements mentioned above, the February update will bring transparent tiles, Game Hubs and a number of new features to Xbox One users and we’ll let you know as you as it becomes available.

Reason I love the One is because of their controllers, now they're getting even better.

Well, with everyones irrelevant opinions aside, the Xbox one controller is better.

Stonerzard Gotta say I do hate Xbox controllers, I find they are way too big! And I definitely prefer a wired controller because of the lag, but at least they're improving it on their wireless controllers. Guess there's too much delay, then!

They're not even that bad. The joysticks are horrible that's why I bought KontrolFreek's. They have thought about them and they are ergonomic... I can play 5-6 hours and my hands don't ache

I like both the xbox and the ps4 controllers, they're both so well built!
Although I have this weird thing with my xbox one controller that long story short is I dont like having all my fingers around the like handle bit

if anyone experiences "lag" it's because of the console not because of the controller mate. It could also be your TV. I had a weird setting where there was a delayed response from my HDMI outputs on my tv.

Xbox controllers are nice, yet i do still think the PS4 one still looks a bit better and is a bit better because of the extra functionality

There has never been any delay to your controller using wireless or wired. That's like saying a wireless mouse has button lag vs a cord mouse....

360 controllers were the perfect fit for me
