'00001' Anniversary Edition PS4 sells for $128K in charity auction

4.6
The first-off-the-line Anniversary Edition PlayStation 4 went for ¥15.135 million in an online charity auction last night, which converts to a stunning $128,000. Sony Japan's auction ended this weekend with the huge bid on the special grey console, which is unit "00001" of 12,300.

"We appreciate all who participated in the auction and are surprised at the highest bid price, which was higher than our expectations," a Sony representative told the Wall Street Journal, perhaps with an agape mouth and a lack of blinking.

This is ridiculous. Not even a good console. Lol.

I wouldn't pay anywhere near that much, but these are the sort of things that I would love to have!

Everyone who says it was a dumb decision is thing of the price real-time relative to themselves. For most people paying that much is dumb, but when your a multi millionaire it's not as crazy.

Looks pretty cool but if it was limited or 100 or less being made instead of 12k, then I could see why someone would pay 120k+. But I suppose it is still pretty rare since it is the first of it's kind.

DeluxeHazard I know that the anniversary console looks nice, but paying that much for the first one is just absurd.

Why is everyone saying it's absurd to purchase something like this, for so much? It's for charity, and a good cause. If you have the money why not? You own something sweet, and helped people, what's better?

If it wasn't so pricy damn I would buy one. I wouldn't mind forking over an extra $100 to a limited edition console like this. Always been a Playstation fan and having one like that would bring back so many memories.
