Valve makes change to Steam game trading

4.5
Thinking about picking up some games during the upcoming Winter Sale and trading some of those goodies for other games? Well you might want to hold on to that thought.

Valve announced via their Steam Trading Cards Group http://steamcommunity.com/groups/tradingcards#announcements/detail/163582965920702191)

"All new games purchased as a gift and placed in the purchaser's inventory will be untradable for 30 days. The gift may still be gifted at any time. The only change is to trading.

We've made this change to make trading gifts a better experience for those receiving the gifts. We're hoping this lowers the number of people who trade for a game only to have the game revoked later due to issues with the purchaser's payment method."

This is possibly to combat the recent exploit of games being fraudulently purchased and traded to someone for another game that was legitimately purchased, leaving the person with the fraudulent game unable to play their newly trade goody.

Of course you will still be able to gift that newly bought game at anytime, but if you are looking to get so trading in you are going to need to wait that 30 day wait time until you can get bartering.

Overlap I've only ever gifted a game to a friend, no trading or anything.
but im sure the 30 day wait time could be a bit of an effort for those that do trade :/

Yeah, Its really a pain in the ass for traders like me, oh well though..

They only done it due to people exploiting game trades, understandable IMO.

I never game trade anyway. I'll send games as gifts to family and friends but thats it, never expect anything in return..

I remember this was the case on CS GO, you couln't trade something for 30 days, Or when you add a new payment method to steam and can't use the market for 30 days, Kind of a pain in the ass IMO.

This always seemed to complicated for me anyway, but 30 days waiting could be a bit of a pain for some people.
