FIFA 15 'blocks PS4 Share Play feature'

4.6
EA has reportedly chosen to restrict PS4 players from using the console's Share Play feature in FIFA 15.

Launched in late October as part of PS4 system update 2.0, Share Play enables a second user to enjoy multiple software features remotely without having to own the game being played by the host, including taking control of the title during sixty minute sessions.

However, GameSpot reports that once a Share Play session has been set up with another user, their screen simply displays an error message saying: "Viewing the game screen that the host is currently playing is not allowed due to content restrictions in your country or region."

This is the first EA game to block the Share Play feature, although it is by no means the first PS4 game in general to do so. Activision blocked the feature for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: Ghosts, and other titles - such as Tomb Raider, Wolfenstein: The New Order and Thief - have followed suit.

During a PS4 event in October, Sony ducked our attempts to find out if all publishers were on board with Share Play, but a company representative did tell GameSpot that Share Play "works across all PS4 games" and there was no existing option to enable developers to opt out.

I have a PS4 and this whole Share Play thing is very laggy, I can't wait to see what they make of it in the future. But they shouldn't restrict titles from the feature.

EA obviously feels threatened by Ubisoft taking all the hate away from them and is stepping up their game.

This is EA getting back at sony for not allowing EA access, so their not playing ball with sonys new feature. If devs had confidence in their game they would allow shareplay. Shareplay should be a gateway to more people buying a game, if the game is good.

This is just EA being EA.

They really are showing why they are one of Americas worst companies.

YokePosted:

They just want more money. Thats sad.

DeluxeHazard Of course EA and Activision are two of the companies opting out of this feature. They already make enough money, at least allow people who can't afford your games 60 minutes of a trial.

Exactly, there both money hungry companies.

JRMH Why would Sony promise something they couldn't actually do? God, I'm glad I have an Xbox One.

At least PS4 has the feature...fanboy.

This does seem to be an even worse licence transferring scheme, free games??

Ouch..... I honestly can see many more games blocking this feature.
