Report: GTA 5 runs at 1080p on PS4

Grand Theft Auto 5 will leverage the extra power of newer consoles to display in true HD on your PS4.

GTA 5 is the subject of a ten-page feature in the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine. According to those who snagged a copy, the feature makes specific mention of the game’s 1080p resolution:

“Glimmering 1080p presentation, hugely increased draw distance, 100 new songs, fresh wild-life, a bumper version of GTA Online, this is sandbox you’ve dreamt about ever since you slotted Sony’s angular baby under your TV,” the feature reads.

“Farewell 720p. You served your purpose adequately enough. Still, our eyes have been gagging over 1080p’s pin-sharp pleasure and the Los Santos sandbox is only too happy to oblige on PS4, running at a native 1920 x 1080 pixels.”

Gamepur has scans of the relevant text in situ.

The magazine makes no mention of the Xbox One version, of course, and Rockstar is yet to comment on the news to confirm parity – or a lack of it.

Last year we would have assumed that the Xbox One version would run at a slightly lower resolution than PS4, but in the interim Microsoft unlocked a little extra additional power by freeing up system resources previously devoted to the Kinect. Also, Rockstar is staffed mostly by wizards, and has had an extra year to work with the new console.

GTA 5 PS4 and Xbox One’s release date of November 18 isn’t far off now, but the preview may have been based on an older build, so there’s no guarantee the resolution information will remain accurate at time of launch.

We don’t know what frame rate Rockstar is aiming for, unfortunately, but we’d be pretty surprised if GTA 5′s jaw-dropping open world will allow for anything greater than 30 FPS.

The video you have requested should be available shortly.

It's pathetic that the console can't hit 1080p all the time, and not to mention 60 fps, especially the xbox one.

You could build a pc more powerful for $400-500, easy. This gen is already incredibly underpowered.

Well this is gonna look so nice with the game. Cant wait to see gameplay of it at 1080p

who cares i have a high end pc and a xbox one so good games and resulution when i want it ^_^ no network outages

So no 1080p on the Xbox One? What a shame.

Not once have I watched that trailer and haven't had the chills, so hyped!

Well I guess this is great for ps4 users

Didn't buy this for my 360 but will get it for my Xbox One, pretty excited.

I this was already known? They showed that it would run at 1080p in the first trailer? Or was that for the X1.

PS4 Strikes again but what about FPS?
