Destiny's Cryptarch sees a loot-happy upgrade in 1.0.2 patch

Bungie has unveiled the changes en route to Destiny in next week's 1.0.2 patch, and they should please fans unhappy with how often the game currently offers quality loot.

"Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly," reads Bungie's most prominent note. Following the 1.0.2 patch the formerly stingy decoder will "always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics" from matching engrams, while Rare engrams are guaranteed to produce "Rare or better quality" items and now feature an increased chance of spawning elusive Legendary quality items.

Additionally, Ascendant materials have been upgraded to Legendary status "to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade." Bungie warns players, however, that all Legendary engrams in your inventory once the patch goes live will be downgraded to Rares.

They said they won't be making a sequel for another 10 years. This game is suppose to keep receiving updates and DLC.


But I thought they said there was only two DLC?

Link them saying they wouldn't make a sequel for ten years, because DeeJ has already said he doesn't like giving time frames for things because the community like to not forget what they say, and that'll make them seem like liars if they mess up the time frame.


There are 2 DLC's planned for this year alone. Probably will be a bi-annual dlc release for the game.
And its been known that there is no plans for destiny 2 as this game is supposed to last a decade.
I personally dont think it will last that long but 5-7 is still a long run.

i remember bungie saying destiny was a ten year plan, that was well before the game was released. There is no ending to the story really, just go from planet to planet killing. Why make a new game when they can just keep adding new weapons, armor, planets and enemies.

I would think they didn't want to make great gear too easy to get so they could increase the longevity of the game. But they went a little too skimpy :D
