Sony doesn’t understand why so many people are buying PS4s

4.4
Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida recently admitted he's a "bit nervous" about the success of the PlayStation 4. The console has sold 10 million units and the current generation is trending stronger than last. Will it run out of core customers?

"You need to understand why your products are selling well so you can plan for the future, right? It defied the conventional thinking," Yoshida recently told Eurogamer. "Lots of people thought the dedicated game hardware might not be needed going forward, but still lots of people are very excited."

The rightful concern Yoshida brings up is that Sony will exhaust the core customer. That the number of consumers interested in playing video games is a finite number that the company will rapidly reach with the new console. The good news for Sony is its initial market research is showing it's obtaining lots of new customers who didn't own a PS3, with some who didn't own any last-gen hardware.

I don't understand either. But the PS4 does seem to be the better choice, although I would still probably go for an XB1.

I would be nervous if I were him too. It seems that everything good comes to an end at some point, so they are probably planning out their next steps carefully.

I haven't heard too many negatives about the console, the competition between the One and PS4 is great for consumers. Only making better consoles "being a bit nervous" doesn't sound to weary to say the least.

NBC It is because "Sony does no wrong" and "Microsoft does everything wrong" smh. I Personally like XB1 better, but most of my friends play PS4 so I play that more. Console wars doesn't bother me because I have all the consoles (Yes, even the Wii and WiiU)

Everyone likes to bag on each other and it is truly pointless. It makes no difference to anyone and is a waste of time.

I agree that the console wars are dumb though.

I just don't understand why people can't be happy there's competition? When that's around, we the gamers win!

This could be a serious problem for Sony. Ideally, you want a healthy growth of a major product, not hitting the products cap early on. Sony is going to need more consumer research to find out how they want to cater to their longtime fans in addition to new gamers if Sony wants a product that will last them for several years.

I had the 360 for YEARS, and then got the Xbox one. The Xbox one had a confusing as hell menu, and everything was so different (in a bad way) from the 360. There were no games that I really liked for it, so I traded it for a PS4. Played Second Son and Last of Us on it and I LOVED both of those games. The simple modern gamer like myself (and a majority of people) hear that the PS4 has better hardware and is cheaper, so they bought it. Personally, I do feel like the graphics on the PS4 are better. The PS4 is simple to operate, doesn't have the 600 pound power brick, and in my opinion has a better controller. Another big thing is my beats have no use with Xbox, but with ps4 I can plug it right in the controller and boom, crazy good cod headset. Again this is all my opinion, but the 360 blew out the PS3, and now Sony have stepped it up and made PS4 the better console.

The hype train!!!! that's why.

I don't own a PS4, due to the abysmal support I got with my PS3 (firmware bricked it) & there will be people on the other side saying the exact same about MS, now there have been no games to date that has made me want to go buy a PS4, that saying No man sky just may do that if its not coming to the Xbox One.

Also MS kinda screwed the pooch with last years E3, but looking past that & stepping back & thinking. Instead of jumping on the hate wagon I made the decision to go Xbox based on past experience with Sony & the games that interest me. (At the end of the day its games we play, we don't site & look at the machine & think I made the right desition)

I think this gen to many people have jumped ship so to speak, without thinking & going on what the media said. (A lot of the media were only interested in one thing via ad revenue, the more clicks & people visit there site the more dosh they make & how do you get clicks? Negative press)

This is my opinion on the matter & were all entitled to one.
