Destiny: beta characters won’t transfer to full game

4.5
C’mon, now. You knew they were going to wipe it.

Bungie’s confirmed the awful, inevitable truth: none of your Destiny beta characters or stats will transfer over into the full game.

The developer admitted in this update that “our beta characters won’t transfer to the final version of Destiny. The vaults have been cleaned out, too.”

Bungie designer Tyson Green added: “Since the beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the beta build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.”

But this is the last time your avatar’s going to get retired. “On September 9, you can create a Guardian who will keep you company for a good, long time,” the update continued.

“On a long-enough timeline, you might decide to delete him or her and start over again – but that will be your call to make.”

The news will rankle some. Bungie said this week that no major gameplay changes had been made since the beta.

Still. Nearly there. Which version are you planning to pick up?

Still gutted i never got the chance to play the beta.

I actually like this. Always prefer to start to off at a fair pace amongst other players. Its not like those 8 levels really mattered. Really didnt get much for being the highest rank in the beta.

I dont like this, i really would love to have my character in the full game. But, on the other hand, I do agree that everyone needs to start at an equal level.

Its a good thing IMO. Everyone should start at equal ground

Yoke This sucks to read. i was really hoping they would transfer.

I thought maybe they would do the same thing, but was also prepared for a reset as I knew it was beta. I still played continuously for a long time. The game is great. Can't wait to get an actual copy and rank up... again.

Uhm Max level in the beta was Level 8. Who cares? Lmao

NBCPosted:

That kind of sucks but I don't really care

It would have been neat to be able to keep your characters but doesn't really bother me I will just do it over again.

-Chrissy- Actually this is common though. It happens on alot of games e.g Battlefield, stats arnt carried

Exactly! This isn't anything new, I can't think of any beta I played and my stats carried over to the actual game. I guess for now on, betas should have a message before you even play stating that your stats won't carry over to the actual game. It's almost like you have to a label saying "Do not drink" onto a Windex bottle... Ok bad example, but you get my point.

The gears of war judgement beta carried stats over, that's the only one I played that I can think of

Judgment sucked though. Worst Gears they had, campaign was kinda nice, but too easy to 1 man insane/hardcore it.

Halo Reach had stats carry over. I remember the beta being max rank at Lt. Colonel and then when you actually played the game you would be like 3-5 ranks higher. That was a game made by Bungie :c

The full game was maxed at Lt. Colonel, since the community had to complete something like 117 million challenges (it was a number like that, feel free to correct me) - The beta was maxed at Warrant Officer G3 I believe and everyone was reset in the final game.

I'm glad they reset everything though in Destiny.
