Destiny: no major gameplay changes before launch

Destiny’s beta was good enough to convince Activision to leave the full game alone for launch.

Activision has said the Destiny beta was so successful that the full game will be largely unchanged when it goes live on September 9.

Small alterations are being made, but, Activision publishing boss Eric Hirshberg said in a financial call, “I would describe this as tweaks and not major changes, as we saw the fundamentals of the game to be very strong.

“And the good news is because we got 4.6 million players into the beta we were able to test the back-end in scale and it performed really well and stably. We think we’re ready for a great launch with a great partner in Bungie.”

More than 4.5 million players participated in the Destiny beta, making it, according to Activision, “the biggest beta of this console generation by a wide margin and the largest console beta ever for a new video game IP to date.”

Destiny’s popularity may be causing some friction, however: reports emerged this morning of Limited and Ghost Edition pre-orders being cancelled.

AIL The beta was mindblowing. I do think this will take game of the year by far.

They just need to fix a few bugs and balance out certain weapons to make the game better.

Inq Never even for a chance to play the beta

That's a shame. The beta was a blast, you should consider purchasing the game. It's very entertaining.

Wake I'm glad, I enjoyed my time spent playing as a Warlock and hope they don't change the class too much.

I'm disappointed they're not making any changes, because I want them to change that class. Warlock is overpowered and annoying.

I think I remember seeing something on the forums that said that it would be harder to get supercharged when PvP.

BubbaTYBG I was really excited for the game, but after the beta I kind of lost interest.

Really? The beta was great, ran smoothly, and made me want to buy the game even more.

I enjoyed it.
