Minecraft Xbox One's eight player multiplayer will grow after launch

4.4
According to Microsoft's Roger Carpenter, the game will support eight player multiplayer at launch, but 4J Studios plans to raise the headcount via downloadable updates.

Here's the Tweet in question.
#minecraftxbox1 will be 8 player at release but we will continue working to allow more players in a future update!

Minecraft Xbox One is slated to release in August. There's no word of an exact date, but it sounds like the developers are narrowing it down.

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

A Resize World option is also in the works for post-launch, allowing Xbox 360 players to import and expand their existing worlds.

After the news we heard about today with Private servers maybe coming this might be what they were talking about. I really don't play in huge parties in Minecraft but I am sure for a ton of Youtubers out there this will be a great way to reach out to their fans better.

Well at least it is somewhat of an improvement but it still wont compare to the PC version.

Yea I hope there is some way of actually saving the world as your own. It would be a shame if there are 32 ppl in a game but only the host can actually save the world as his/her own.

Not if it is going to be really laggy like it was on the 360!

MY BODY IS READY. I haven't touched Minecraft since I got my Xbox One day one. Can't wait to spend countless hours on it.

Minecraft worlds can never be infinite on consoles.
Because someone will overload their HDD with one world that they explored for days...
