PS4 sleep mode, friend takeover features still coming

The PS4 is missing a few features Sony promised during its console reveal last year, such as sleep mode and the ability to let a friend take over your game online. These features are on their way, Sony Head of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida told Kotaku at E3.

"Our team has been working on it," Yoshida said. "There are some things that we announced in February of last year that were not planned for the launch timeframe."

Yoshida didn't provide a timeline for the new features, but said he's asking his tech team "every other week" when they'll be ready.

During its PS4 reveal show in February 2013, Sony Lead System Architect Mark Cerny described sleep mode as a suspend/resume process that allows you to power down and boot up the PS4 from the same spot at the press of a button. In October, we learned that feature wouldn't be ready on day one.

For some reason my comment before didn't quite properly so had to do it manually -

I like how Sony had to give games away because their system got hacked and taken down for a month then the idea of free games carried on from there. And the Xbox One free games are out and have been all month.

I like how Sony are coping Microsoft, "Sleep Mode" it seems to be a different name for "Instant-On" from the Xbox One..


I like how Microsoft Copied Sony with the 2 free games each month, and yet still haven't come through on the Xbox one.


I like how Sony had to give games away because their system got hacked and taken down for a month then the idea of free games carried on from there. And the Xbox One free games are out and have been all month.

FibreOp Funny, I tweeted PlayStation about this a few days ago. Happy they responded back this quick. This feature will be awesome to have as I have some friends that aren't good at some games and could guide them through some missions and show a pro at work lol

If Sony and Xbox came together to make a combined console this would be awesome. But I'm more of a Sony fan. Hope this feature comes out ASAP

I like how Sony copied Microsoft by using electricity to power their console. Smh..
