Xbox One June update begins rolling out

4.5
Microsoft announced the Xbox One's next major update is available starting today, and rolling out globally across the week. This morning we were able to download the 296MB update, which adds external storage support, automatic sign-ins upon booting, real name options for friends, and the live TV feature OneGuide for users in Canada and Europe. It also removes the Xbox Live Gold paywall from a number of apps like Netflix and Hulu, as does the update coming to Xbox 360 this week.

The headline addition is the external storage support, which lets you connect up to two 256GB-plus USB 3.0 drives to the Xbox One. You can also choose which of the drives is your default for installs, including the internal 500GB number. Not a bad addition considering current-gen game installs seem to often hit the half-century mark for GBs.

Hope they have fixed some major AND minor bugs and glitches. Can't wait to see the improvements. Hopefully they can get things moving more smoothly now.

Nice to see they are fixing some issues and keeping on top of things. Looks like the XB1 is starting to be fixed(sucked at release). Might end up grabbing another one since I sold mine a while back.

I got it. I personally like the real name sharing

I don't share very many friends on my Xbox as I do in real life and it seems a bit weird to see their real name but its good that you can choose who sees it or not. The automatic sign in at boot is great for people who don't have Kinect for facial recognition to sign in so fast. Having to have gold to use Netflix was always so stupid and nobody ever understood why, but its good that they finally changed that.

vWatsonc I wonder if the youtube app is better on the xbox one because its pretty **** on the 360 !

I think the 360 version of Youtube is actually rather good. I prefer it over the PC version.

-Tupac I like the way how you can select all of your friends so you don't have to click it one by one.

I never new about this feature that should be good.

I don't like how XBLSE went down for a bit :/.
