PS4 Power Pak and Intercooler Up for Pre-Order

4.5
Back at GDC Nyko Announced the latest of its Power Pak series, dedicated to the PS4, but didn’t give a release date. Those interested in extending the battery life of their DualShock 4 controller will be happy to know that it’s now available for pre-order, and will be released on May 26th.
You can find it on Amazon or GameStop for $19.99.
In addition to the Power Pak, Nyko is also releasing an Intercooler for Sony’s new console, and that has just been made available for pre-order at Gamestop as well for $24.99 (it doesn’t seem to be available on Amazon yet).
The PowerPak is basically a pretty lightweight auxiliary 1000 mAh auxiliary battery (like the original one of the DualShock 4) that will fit snugly to the back of your DualShock 4 controller without any dismantling required. Due to its small size and shape it’s compatible with Nyko’s own charging station and according to the manufacturer it’ll double the battery life of the controller.
The Intercooler clips to the back of the PS4 and turns on and off with it thanks to Nyko’s patented “Power Pass-through” tech. It can be used in both vertical and horizontal positions and promises to help keeping your PS4 cool by pushing hot air away from it.
If you’re one of those that don’t like to be tethered to the USB cable during long play sessions or you’re worried about heat, these may just be the accessories that will save you some worries.

Will probably end up buying both of these. The intercooler seems pretty useless atm as there are no heating issues with the PS4, buuut "better safe than sorry" I suppose.

bombshell Surely Sony should be sending these out free to all PS4 owners, if someone has had to make it there must be a problem !

Why should Sony give out battery packs for free? Thats like saying Microsoft should give out AA batteries. As for the Intercooler clips, the PS4 doesn't have a heat problem yet. So this product is actually kinda useless.

Microsoft do include AA batteries with the console don't they?

Forgot to add when the batteries they included die.

JS before, I am not an MS or Sony fanboy, nor do I fully agree with the original statement.. but, Microsoft don't advertise the fact that the controller comes with built in rechargeable battery's so your statement is completely invalid.

Let me just clear this up a little bit more. The guy I replied to first stated that Sony should send out Nyko's Power Pak to everyone that bought a PS4. If you read the article, the "Power Pak" is an OPTIONAL thing you can buy for your PS4 remote. It extends the battery life of the remote. Then to make a comparison, I stated that makes as much sense as Microsoft having to send AA batteries after the batteries, we originally get, die.
If you still don't understand the point. I'm saying the "Power Pak" is an optional thing and not required, just like buying a play and charge kit.

Potion Never in my life would i buy another inter cooler after i had one for my Xbox 360 and it ended up giving me the red ring.

Same here, my 360 was fine until I put the inter cooler on.

I thought it was part of the system, its nice that they transferred the look from PS4 to this.
