DualShock 4 Light Dimming Coming With 1.7 PS4 Firmware Update

4.4
Update: Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida just confirmed on Twitter that the feature is indeed coming with 1.7.

After Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida talked about it at the game developers conference, a curtain of silence fell on the upcoming PS4 feature that will allow us to dim the light of the DualShock 4, leading many to wonder whether it’ll be included in the 1.7 firmware update or not.

Industry insider Tidux, who has already demonstrated to know quite well what goes on at Sony, confirmed today that the feature is indeed between those that will be included in 1.7, and that Sony still has to officially announce.
As usual we have to consider this a rumor until officially confirmed by Sony itself, but Tidux already proved his reliability by talking about several features of the PS4′s operating system and UI before they were disclosed, and more recently by nailing the release date of the 1.7 update.
The PS4 1.7 firmware update will be released on April 30th worldwide, and will include quite a few other features, like the ability to turn off HDCP, HD streaming on Twitch and Ustream, the SHAREFactory video editing suite, and the ability to transfer video and screenshots to external USB storage.

Zips Total battery killer to be honest

I'm pretty sure those lights are LEDs, which use such a tiny amount of power that it's ignorable. The problem with the light is that it's bright, but it's needed for some sensor.

From what I have been hearing from people it's TOO bright. Kills the battery and lights the whole room. They needed to fix it.

It's not that bright in my opinion

I didn't even know they had a light. That's a pretty cool idea. But I think it would get annoying.

I have not used a PS4 or Xbone. I have no interest in getting them ever.
