Minecraft Realms goes live in North America

4.5
Mojang has launched Minecraft Realms in North America.

Minecraft Realms is a subscribtion-based private server rental service which lets subscribers set up online worlds accessible only to their friends.

For $13 per month, a subscriber can host sessions with up to 20 players live at once on the Mojang-run servers, which promise to be always available.

The service is currently only available to the PC version of the game, but the developer says it's "planning on releasing it on other formats in the future".

Minecraft Realms is currently available in many regions worldwide including much of Europe, UK, Mexico, South Africa and The United Arab Emirates.

Earlier today Mojang detailed plans for a 'Q2/Q3' release for Minecraft on PlayStation 4 and Vita.

While details on cross-buy and upgrade options are still forthcoming, the studio says it plans to enable world transfer from PS3 to PS4, and possibly also the PS Vita.

this seems pretty cool but expensive

Kimbrel Really wish this wasn't so expensive so me and my friends could have our own server but I really don't see any of us paying $13/mo for it.

That is stupid, I wish they just had a free server that you can join with friends (Kinda like the 360/PS3)

YhCHKN This would be pretty cool on Xbox.
24/7 server open for anyone (Y)

"accessible only to their friends"

Not what you think it is.

Hollywood_Undead I can get a better dedicated server with 64 people for $13...
Holy overpriced.

Thats crazy, didn't even know you could do that. I'm still here playing the trial! Hahaha.

There are other hosting sites that can give a way better deal!

My good friend had a dedicated server with 1000 people and I think 71 GB of RAM.
The server was not FOR minecraft, it was for something far more important, like company wise.
But he used it for Minecraft anyways.
He rented it out for like around $100 (Not entirely sure)
But all I know is that it was an AMAZING deal.

That is a pretty crazy deal!

Just make a normal server for free! Much easier IMO

I did see this and I thought that it was convenient because my friend and I wanted to record a survival island. I don't see myself paying 13.99$ a month on minecraft.

Thats a bit expensive, and really, I think Mojang is turning into a company who only cares about money

Than I don't think I'm going to pay $13 a month on this. It's not overpriced to me but it's a useless thing to spend money on. (In my Opinion)

I would have to agree, although it is a fairly good ideas I just don't believe that it would be worth the money (in my opinion)
