Flappy Birds creator 'considering' its return with added 'warnings'

4.1
Breakout viral hit Flappy Birds may one day make a return to smartphone app stores, says its creator Dong Nguyen.

Flappy Birds shot to fame earlier this year when the game inexplicably went viral, topping iOS and Android app stores with millions of downloads before Nguyen pulled the game down, explaining that it "ruins my simple life", and that the game had become too addictive for its players.

But speaking with Rolling Stone in a recent interview, the Vietnamese indie developer said the game, or a follow-up to it, may make a return.

"I'm considering it," he said when asked if Flappy Birds may come back.

While Nguyen said he's not currently working on a new version of the game, he did reveal that, should a follow-up materialize, it will come with a "warning" for players similar to that of many modern Nintendo games: "Please take a break."

Elsewhere in the interview, Nguyen revealed he's working on three new games, an unnamed 'cowboy-themed shooter', a 'vertical flying game called Kitty Jetpack' and an "action chess game" called Checkonaut. One, he said, will be released this month.

thank god this is coming back so happy

RGHSigned Called it. There was no way this game was gonna stay gone forever. It was a publicity stunt.

Honestly I thought of this the same way I knew that it will sooner or later comeback. If I was making $50,000 off of an app I would bring it back after I made it sound like it was never coming back.

slapshot101 Man, he must of blew through that money quick if he is considering putting it back on the market. I think the warnings won't actually change anything, I mean most people just don't pay attention to them or just try to skip through them as fast as possible. The only way I can see him fixing the problem would be to implement a system where you can only play it for a certain period of time and then it locks the app from being able to be played.

That is what I am saying, hopefully he invested the money into some good like a game studio or something, would of been cool to see him making some great games and forget about Flappy Birds.

Well this is sort of cool. I didn't like the game all too much but I still have it.

The warning idea is cool. Some people played this WAYYY too much...

Hmm, this game was bad enough the first time around. God only knows what it will be like this time.

Oh come on. He removed the app from the market but still continued to put ads on it. The guy is a tool.

Good marketing strategy.
I'm playing Flappy Bird until I hit 100 score, once I hit 100 I will never play it again.

Say the people that paid big money for iPhones and iPods with Flappy Installed aren't too happy now lol
