Friday is it for Call of Duty Elite

Activision is slated to cease the Call of Duty Elite service on Friday February 28th. Elite launched to coincide with Modern Warfare 3 in November 2011, it was intended as a online platform to further enhance the series MP experience alongside better stat tracking/viewing.

The platform launched as a tiered service in 2011 but was later rolled into a completely free service alongside the Black Ops 2 release in November 2012.

The company explained their logic here in the form of a Elite shutdown FAQ, below is a small excerpt of the linked document.

Call of Duty Elite was designed to work with prior Call of Duty games and has begun winding down support for those titles since late last year, which ends on February 28, 2014.

We've taken all the key learnings and fan feedback to create the Call of Duty app for Call of Duty: Ghosts, which takes some of the best and most popular features of Call of Duty Elite and introduces new elements such as Call of Duty Clan Wars. Download the Call of Duty app now at http://callofduty.com/app, and join in the Call of Duty Clan Wars fun today.

There are no plans to bring Call of Duty Elite back. We encourage fans to download the Call of Duty app for Call of Duty: Ghosts, which allows players to customize their multiplayer character and weapons loadouts on the go, keep track of their Call of Duty: Ghosts stats, and features Call of Duty Clan Wars, where players can compete for cool, exclusive in-game gear.Activision

yeah but they have the app and it is only for Ghost i think and its easier IMO.

I loved the elite. It sucks they took it down. They should have kept adding on to it

Sel I liked it a lot when it first started when the had the really good clan battles it was actually kind entertaining.
Oh well there will probably be something sort of the same in the future.


It was good at first, but at the end it was getting useless.


it wasn't at all, it's just people stopped using it because people stopped ranking up and playing normally.


the only way people was using it was to render clips.


exactly. so many people didn't know you could render clips without any hardware nor software, they think I'm lying lol

VIT To all them ignorants who says it was a waist, I bet you didn't know this. you could record your gameplay and upload it to your youtube straight from your console, with No software nor hardware involved, just one press of a button at the theatre mode. this was huge, and I mean HUGE.

I Think he is talking about Mw3 elite where you have to pay to be elite i don't know how much tho,


When MW3 first came out this was a very big and widely used feature but now it's not.


Yeah and the elite on Mw3 is not worth the money anyways ^-^

on Black ops 1, MW3, Black ops 2, you could render your clips for free on any game, just by registering free membership, straight from your theatre mode/ vault to your linked youtube. don't tell me you didn't know that?
