Call of Duty now on three year development cycle

3.9
Activision has released that it will be moving the CoD series to a three year development cycle instead of two.

While this still means a new CoD entry each year it *should* allow much more time for the respective devs to fully develop their CoD. One would imagine their hope in this strategy change is to foster more innovation while allowing further care of previously released games in the form of better crafted DLC.

"Sledgehammer is a triple-A studio built from the ground-up around prudent talent with a 90-plus-rated pedigree both in studio leadership and throughout the organization.

They demonstrated their skill on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and on their past high-rated games. They're the perfect choice to support our new approach and bring fresh ideas and creativity to this great franchise, and to raise the bar for next-gen games overall.

Atleast they can now put effort into making games.

Although I can't see this changing much, at least they are making attempts

Heard many rumours about this, nice to see it is true. Hopefully they'll be able to work out bugs and glitches better before they release games. CoD still have to work on their servers and spawn system though. I definitely can NOT wait for Sledgehammer's Call of Duty release, will be VERY exciting to see what they will bring to CoD, how they will improve etc. I'm just VERY, VERY excited for this release. Although, this DOES mean that each producer has an extra year to work on their game, it also means they have an extra year to release DLC. Maybe they'll double the amount of DLC released and release it over 2 years instead of only over 1 year. Maybe they'll also increase the price for a season pass IF they do, do this.

gtapro151 so what does that mean a new cod every 2 years now instead of every year?

Still every year, but it won't be IW > Treyarch repeating. Sledgehammer is going in next and then it's Treyarch's turn. It's basically an extra year for each of the developers now.

ooooooo i see ok mkaes sense
