League of Legends boasts 27 million daily players

Riot Games reports that its League of Legends userbase has skyrocketed to 27 million players daily, more than doubling the 12 million daily players it reported in 2012.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Riot Games additionally confirmed that up to 7.5 million users are playing League of Legends at the same time during peak hours, up from a high of 5 million concurrent users reported in March of 2013. League of Legends earned over $624 million in microtransaction revenue throughout 2013.

League of Legends enjoys continued popularity via streaming services like Twitch, and its widespread popularity led international players to be classified as professional athletes by the US government.

Dong This is crazy. My friend plays LoL and it reminds me a lot of WoW, didn't like that game either...

I don't see why though, a friend of mine refuses to play it cause he thinks it's like WoW. And it's not at all the same lol but that's your opinion vs mine

Kurumu I hope that no one is surprised by this, this game gets so many people playing it and watching it. Good job though for riot games.

This is true, but this could be surprising because not everybody knows the daily statistics.

27 million is a lot of people! Whenever I go on Twitch there's about 34K watch League of Legends gameplay.

Oh wow, 27 million daily players is pretty commendable for any game. Riot have really been doing well for themselves. I have player a few games of league of legends and while not for me i can acknowledge that it's pretty fun and i know why people play it so much (i have family members who play it non stop) so i hope to see it and e-sports in general grow in the future
