Xbox One is “uncapped”, according to Phil Harrison

4.5
The Xbox One is up and running and Microsoft VP Phil Harrison is excited about what the future holds for Redmond’s newest console.

“When you’ve been around for a long time, you know what platforms are like,” Harrison told OXM. “The games you celebrate and are proud of in the first year, when you look back at them from the perspective of ten years from now; you’d be amazed at the difference. It’s a combination of the tools getting better, developers beginning to understand the unique architecture to work with.”

Harrison credits the Xbox One’s flexibility of the cloud and that its potential will be unlocked over time.

“Crucially this time around, there’s the power of the cloud and what that means for game design,” he said. “That can grow and scale indefinitely – of course there is a practical limit but in effect you’re uncapped. And I think, from a player’s perspective, that’s the most exciting part; that it’s not just about the chips in the box under the television or wherever you position your console of choice, it’s about what the platform will provide you with over time. We’ve not had that in a console generation before.”

In addition to Game DVR, SmartGlass and Kinect integration, Harrison said that there were five other features in Microsoft’s pipeline ready to come out.

Perfect- Wow PS4 is killing off the xbone.

Yes, it is. But the xbone hasnt released some of its other stuff yet. be patient.

They are still competing pretty well, i wouldn't quite say that the PS4 is 'killing off' the Xbox One

PS4: 2.1 Million Xbox One: 2 Million. Very close competition except PS4 came out several days before Xbone did.

HOF I suggest a price drop. I cant afford to pay $500 for a console.

It just came out, a price drop is extremely unlikely lol

I could see a price drop occurring near the end of 2014, no earlier though
Yes, console price drops aren't after a while

An example of how they can twist the true number of servers.

This is a great article discussing latency, and how offloading a modern game to the cloud is currently impossible.

There is no need to defend the XB1, i own and enjoy both consoles. I'm just trying to prevent Microsoft from lying to its consumers.

Wow, both links have been taken down. What are you hiding Microsoft?

the only reason i would beleave this is because the difference in the first 360 game to know is amazing you would never have thought 360 could run bf3 or bo2 or forza

It seems that regardless of which console is better, the true beneficiaries, once again, are those consumers that do a significant amount of research before they make a purchase. I never would have guessed...

I - being an Xbox owner and being slightly biased, say the xbox one has a lot of potential. All the Xbox one needs is to be able to change up the layout to make it easier and more like the 360's, and it would be way better of an experience.
