Xbox One: “Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price,”

4.4
PS4 vs Xbox One is a hot ticket right now, and it’s got Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter analysing his way into our headlines once more. Now, he feels the £80 discrepancy between both formats is a significant game-changer that could cost Microsoft the generation.

It follows Pachter’s disbelief at why Nintendo President Satoru Iwata still had a job.

Speaking with GI.biz, Pachter said, “The reason Sony beats Microsoft is solely the price. Microsoft loses the next generation unless they cut price. If Microsoft drops its price to $399, I expect the sales to be equal to the PS4.”

That’s a short-term fix however, but what about the long-term? Pachter commented on sales projections that state both PS4 and Xbox One will out-sell their predecessors, “I don’t know where they get those numbers. I don’t think you’re ever going to see 500 million consoles out there. The next generation of consoles is probably the last. We expect frequent model updates instead of new consoles. I think the PC is going to make a comeback, the PC will be the hub of all this stuff.”

I agree, The Xbox ONE is too overpriced.

Hence why I am going to PC gaming. I just feel that for what they are they are too expensive. I could get a Xbox One for about 570 GBP, however I am getting a PC (which will run better than the XB1 for 570GBP. It's hard to see why I would go down the console route.

I love the PC I just don't find it as exciting to bring around or to say that my friends should hang out and play PC because once it is set up it is a hard object to move.

Competition should be about performance, visuals and enjoyability. The price is a lot but people have to live with it. Get a job whilst you are young, believe me, save up all your money. Over time the price will go down.

G36cBossMan Microsoft do a price cut? Lmao that's the most redicoulus thing I have ever heard... They have so much money idk if they even care after they slapped us in the face with the drm policies that they were basically forced to remove Microsoft showed there true colors they exposed them selves for the money hungry company that doesn't give 1 $hit about its fans just the money...

Still offers more than the PS4 & it looks the exact same as the PS4 graphic wise & dare I say a decent computer. So just because it's more doesn't mean they're money hungry. They just want to make a buck or two, just like any major company on this planet

VPN-V2 Will it costs them $471 to make one. I think they should drop Kinect, but still have it as a bundle for the existing consoles or for people that want it.

This is what i'm thinking.
There would be a huge influx of sales if they didn't force bundle the Kinect with the Xbone.

I was thinking the same thing until I bought one of them. I found out why they require you to buy the Kinect because it makes it so much easier to do all of the multitasking. Without the Kinect it would be extremely difficult to do a lot of things that Microsoft put into the system.

Pretty sure they called it the One for exactly that reason, it's an all-in-one device. Movies, music, tv, gaming, internet etc. The whole point of it is to be like a pc but without all the extra bits, aimed at the casual pc gamer to tempt them over really.

This couldn't be compared to a PC at all.
I mean come on, you would have to buy a $200 adapter to be able to use a mouse and keyboard.

those prices are never realistic though, thats how much it would cost YOU to make one, Microsoft buys all the parts for these things in huge quantities and also makes a lot of their own parts so they can make one at a significantly lower price compared to of you were gonna make one.
