Microsoft: We are "selling every Xbox One we can make"

4.7
Earlier today, Sony announced that after the launch of the PlayStation 4 in 30 more markets in Europe and Latin America last week, it has now sold over 2.1 million units of the console since it was first released in the U.S and Canada on Nov. 15. However, it appears that Microsoft seems to be more reluctant to offer any updated sales numbers for the Xbox One, which launched in 13 markets on Nov. 22.

Back then, Microsoft said it sold over one million Xbox One units in its first 24 hours. Today, in a statement sent to AllThingsD, Yusuf Mehdi, the Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Strategy for Microsoft's Xbox division, offered this rather vague update on sales of the console:

Eleven days in we are seeing record breaking sales and are selling every Xbox One we can make. Demand is far exceeding supply in the 13 countries we’ve launched and we are sold out at retailers around the world.

Unfortunately, that optimistic statement did not come with a updated sales figure for the Xbox One, as Sony offered today for the PS4. There is evidence from a third party consumer study that the Xbox One outsold the PS4 in the U.S. last week during Black Friday. Hopefully the company will offer some concrete figures on this subject soon.

CHP wow they are far beghind ps4, but i didnt no they sold that many already.

The PS4 is sold in a lot more countries though, so when it goes for North American sales, they aren't that far behind.

The xbox one has less countries that its sold in but knowing ms they have probably sold the same amount if not more. Ps4 and xbox are both very successful consoles. But ms has been in the technology world alot longer so more fans amd such...

i always tbought sony has been in the technology world longer?

Correct he was talking out of his ass, technology didn't start with Windows and PCs, and Sony has been in the technology world since 1946 9 years before Bill Gates was even born, add 18 years to that for when Bill actually started MS and you have almost 30 years of Sony before MS ... and 'technology' doesn't mean computers and software, Sony has invented a lot of technologies in audio/video over the years, they are just in a bad way right now, due to bad management.

The Xbox One will most likely pass PS4 in sales over time.

This is Great but xbox One is To expensive maybe that's why their sales are slow

I'd be more interest in sales statistics in a year or two, not a few weeks.

-Tyron Who gives a flying f**k which sells faster? They are both still incredibly successful consoles.

The companies care, game developers care, consumers care, stakeholders care. The list goes on..

no its just all the fanboys. if i like the xboxone more, im gonna buy it. i dont care if it was just me and my friends and no one else in the world. exact same scenario for the ps4. i dont care if this system sold 1 million units in 24 hours, or 12 hours.
