Nvidia: “the PC platform is far superior to any console”

4.6
Nvidia’s consumer sales manager Matt Wright has stressed that PC is the gaming platform of choice, and that its functionality makes it “far superior” to consoles. He recognises that some staunch console players may need some extra convincing however.

It follows the UK and European PS4 launch.

Speaking with MCV, Wright said, “We are proposing small form-factor PCs to be a viable alternative to the next-gen consoles. Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC. The PC platform is far superior to any console when it comes to gaming, plus you get all the extra functionality that a computer brings.”

He added that from the outside looking in, PC gaming may appear more complex and technical to the layman, but stressed, “We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible and we think that it already becoming much more relevant and appealing to casual gamers,”

Steam also helps. “Steam now has more users than Xbox Live,” Wright concluded. “There is a whole new generation who grew up playing on PC with titles like Minecraft or World of Tanks. There’s a huge community who love playing their games on PC.”

What’s your take? Are PS4 and Xbox One already obsolete? Is PC the way forward? Let us know what you think below.

PC's are truly way better than any console, couldn't agree more.

Bl_lddha Sure, PC gaming is far more superior than console gaming. But you have to fork out a few hundreds for a nice PC; and in a few years you will have to buy some upgraded parts to stay current gen. But look at consoles, the games for them are always optimized due to popularity.

That's one of the main reasons why I enjoy console gaming, the fact that you don't have to upgrade it ever few years. Plus you can still play on the 360 for another few years to come before the servers are taken off.

no. Pc is definitely better in any scenario. All you gotta do is study for a couple weeks about building and you're set.
Not by a long shot is PC better in every way...

So, care to elaborate on why not? I mean.. Taking a look at the consoles, a PC can do 99% of the things that the consoles can, and a better job at it too. The only major exclusivity are the range of games.

It's such a 'console fanboy' thing to say to just put "no, they aren't.. you are wrong".

and to the original comment, you don't even need to research. I bought all of the components for my current PC a few weeks back. I managed to get my computer built, installed Windows, and download all the latest drivers/updates within about 5 hours from start to finish.

Uh how about not everyone can afford to build a pc or buy new parts every few years.

I've always known that a pc is far superior than a console ever will be and that consoles are years behind when it comes to technology but I'd rather play on a console. Maybe that's just me though.

PC Gaming is far superior if you have a heavy wallet. Consoles are the cheap alternative. That's the issue. But still PC Gaming is by far and will probably always remain superior!

The new consoles still aren't on par with even an old gaming PC. It's really disappointing how much they've slacked on the 'next-generation' of gaming.

Da_Bomb Nobody argues that pcs are more powerful and better for games.

But you cant take your computer into the living room. Invite some friends over, order some pizza, and play all night long. This is what the pc doesnt have. Untill they can do this, there will always be a big place for consoles.

Actually thats not true at all. If my friends come over I unplug my pc, bring it to my living room and we play on the tv. Any newer tv past 2009 will have a way to hook up a pc to it. WE just plug it in, choose any game and go from there. So yes pc still wins in that department.

To add on to this there is Steam's Big picture mode that allows it to have a UI like a console with say and xbox controller

Friends over and chilling, ever heard of a LAN party?

Italian PC is better. But I like how I can play a $60 game on a Console that I paid $179, and to play the same game I would need a computer worth at least 500+

This ideology is flawed in my opinion. You spend $180 on a gaming console, but how much did you spend on your computer? You probably threw hundreds on a laptop. Add that to the $180 spent on the console, and you pretty much break even. People who argue the price of PC gaming seem to forget that you can also use your PC as a regular computer, not only as a gaming machine.

I don't have enough money for a good computer so I play console. I would love one though.
