Xbox One disc drive broken for some users, YouTube videos show

4.7
A handful of YouTube demonstrations show Xbox One disc drives broken in the same way: The console accepts a game disc and then makes an awful skipping sound and doesn't register any game data. One YouTuber, Gabriel Ortiz, compiled a few videos of busted Xbox One disc drives, which he found under the search term "Broken Xbox One."

It's like 1% of consoles that have this problem but it always seems like its 80% on the web.

Oasis Knew it! Rumor says that if you don't have a Xbox One yet, wait until the normal edition is available in your area, apparently MS rushed the Day One edition to meet demand but obviously it didn't work out too well.

Never believe a rumor. There has to be some sort of leak or proof for such things to believe.

I'd say it is most likely down to it being handled incorrectly by whoever delivered them. But it doesn't look like there's that many disc drive problems with most people. The only other issue i've saw is the Day one update which isn't affecting everyone.

Me and a bunch of my friends have the day one edition and it works fine. I don't know anybody with an issue.

Well yeah, because if you managed to get one that was manufactured before they realized they needed to bump up production then obviously it should work fine. It seems as if the tight schedule has hampered quality.

Just because you don't know anyone with the problem doesn't make it real, being ignorant to issues like these will only slow down the evolution of the console.

Hopefully by the 2nd gen (first half of 2014?) of this console all hiccups will be fixed.

Honestly, it's highly unlikely this is due to 'bumping up the production rate'. They knew how many people they wanted to pre order the console, and they're probably accurate. If anything, pre orders were lower than expected because of the backlash over the new features.

Erm, I'll think you'll find that once they changed the DRM policy they had a huge increase in day one edition orders, more than they were expecting. The figures take time to reach the distributors then on to the manufacturer. But once a retailer realizes they have overdone it, as long as they have your money, it's up to the distribution network to fulfill the order. By-any-means-necessary. It's their obligation.

this can also happen when employee's or people who stock the shelves drop them.

Lavish Broken disc drive > Bricked console.
I still made the better choice with going for the Xbox One.

"Only .4 percent was bricked omg shutup!11!"
If Sony sold 1 million consoles in one day, that would mean over 4 THOUSANDS consoles were bricked.

That means they sold 1.6 million dollars worth of consoles that never even worked.

Either way you get a new one lol.

I'm really annoyed at the fact that they spend so long making this yet it still is obvious things that break first
