Foxconn intern claims PS4 was sabotaged during manufacturing

4.4
According to a snapshot of a deleted forum post, interns at a Foxconn manufacturing plant in Yantai, China have deliberately sabotaged the PS4 citing working conditions at the plant.

The allegations first appeared on the IGN forums, which was locked shortly after. The author then tried to elaborate Below is a snapshot of the actual post

The intern noted that because Foxconn didn’t treat them well, they didn’t treat the PS4 well. Stating: “The ps4 console we assemble can be turned on at best.” which may explain the pulsing blue light issues that many people have experienced, mainly on Amazon shipments where about 33% of the total verified reviewers have reported the issue.

Although these claims cannot be verified, it's no secret that Foxconn has been in the news frequently for their alleged mistreatment of workers, and possibly comes as no surprise that this sort of retaliation is an easy thing for workers to carry out on the Day One release of the console.

In any case, we'll be keeping an eye out for any sort of verification on these claims as Sony investigates the issue themselves.

I wouldn't use a intern as a valid source, imo.

KAQ Oh god :/ don't tell me microsoft are actually going to win me over :/

Sony was forcing workers to do things they didn't want to.
Don't know why this would sound surprising.

I highly doubt this is true...

I love how almost every US product is now made in China (sadly) and yet there the last ones to actually have said product released in there country. American businesses treat foreigners so badly that I'm surprised they haven't slaughtered these big business CEOs.

Katsumi I'm glad that i didn't pre-order and buy one initially. I'll wait it out for around a year and see how things go

Or until Christmas. They will fix it by then.

I can only hope. I think they should be fixed around then but i would like to be sure that nothing else major occurs with the PS4
Neither company can afford to give out faulty during the christmas season...

I dont think any of you understand what the interns were trying to prove and I truly dont think you see the problem with what youre all saying. Youre all talking about profit and all that but the thing is the people that work there are dying, I hope you end up one way or another in their shoes and then realize whats wrong with all this.

I was looking at it from a business point of view. Despite what the interns where 'trying to prove'

I did a research paper on the working conditions at this factory last year. They are basically slaves there and they literally have nets along the windows to keep the workers from jumping out windows to kill themselves. Making a faulty PS4 probably wasn't the best idea for a protest but it's something.

This is bad, glad I didn't buy one at launch only to get a faulty console. Hope they get it fixed by Christmas.
