PS4 disc installs can allow for gameplay in seconds
Discussing the PS4's installation process, Cerny said that the console can stream data from a game disc to its hard drive during gameplay, allowing games to potentially be playable within seconds of first inserting the disc.
While installation times will vary from one title to another, Cerny confirmed this his own game, Knack, will be playable within "10s of seconds" of inserting the disc, reports Kotaku.
Data begins streaming to the hard drive the moment a disc is inserted. Knack will continue to stream data - in the background - until it reaches a total of 37GB installed.
Users will be in control of manually deleting installation data to free up HD space for new installs. Cerny said Sony considered automatic install data deletion for games that a user hadn't played in a while, but settled on a manual process.
Cerny clarified that installs are mandatory - as they also are on Xbox One - because of the significantly faster read speeds offered by a hard drive when compared to Blu-Ray.
Sony is gearing up for the PS4 launch date of November 15 in US and November 29 in Europe and Latin America.
The firm has also released a confirmed PS4 launch lineup of 22 titles in North America, and a slightly differing list of 21 games in Europe.

This has been on the Xbox.
It is just downloading from the disc not the internet.

Amp-daRealRush This is an awesome feature they have implemented into the PS4. But, I think some of the games, will be a bit too spacy. And, what I mean by that, is they might take up to much space!
What do you expect with the next generation games? They will only expand, meaning more and more will be put into the games. And will take more storage.
I would expect them to be able to keep the file size down.
I mean think about it, Floppy discs only hold 5 MB of data, that isn't even enough for a photo anymore.
Think of how many floppy discs it would take to hold a single game.

You can play Xbone while it downloads in the background but I don't know if it will "download in seconds".

KatsumiCHP if this works that will be a major advantage
It will sure making using the console much more convenient than the PS3
I agree.
The less time it takes the better.
Less time messing around and more just getting to play the games.

TouchableKV-2I really don't understand ANYONE who can say that...Backbone Just going slightly of topic- i really dislike the look of that conroller :L Probably feels ok though...
lol I'm so inaccurate in general with controllers... mouse and keyboard is so much easier
If you haven't played with a Keyboard and mouse, you wouldn't understand.
With a keyboard and mouse, you don't have to pay the $150 for a scuf controller.
You have unlimited macros to jump shot, drop shot, strafe, etc.
