Sony won't ban PS4 consoles that arrive early to customers

Microsoft made headlines this weekend when it would not allow the few people who got Xbox One consoles sent to them ahead of its November 22nd launch date to use the product online. Microsoft executive Albert Penello later said the temporary bans on these consoles was due to the fact that the company is still trying to stomp out the final bugs in the Xbox One before the launch.

But what if, for some reason, someone gets a PS4 ahead of the U.S. launch date of November 15th, or the European launch scheduled for November 29th? Sony's President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, indicated in a Twitter post this weekend that the company won't ban any PS4 consoles that arrive to customers ahead of their launch dates.

Sony has already sent a PS4 to YouTube celebrity "Francis" to try out and the video seemed to indicate he was able to play games on the console. Sony has already announced that there will be a "day one" 300 MB software update for the console that will enable many of its features, including its ability to play Blu-ray movie discs.

Doesn't matter both console have shipped to the US so if you paid for it you have the right to play it. Why should you get banned for getting a console early? its just a console he didn't hack it or sell it.


He wasn't supposed to get it early.. why not ban it until close to the final date


but why ban it? he paid for it there is no logic in banning for getting it early. thats just plain stupidity.


They were not banned, they were just temporarily blocked from accessing LIVE, which is a good idea.

My god did you even read the article? The ban is for the few bugs that need to be fixed, that's all. You're still going to be able to play it online with your friends day 1.... stop trying to make it such a big deal.

I suppose a temporary ban until the system has been officially released isn't a big deal but if it were a permanent one, that would be very unfair.

Its not really banned, Pretty much the servers won't go up until launch day so people can't connect

So, with that logic, a person who got the console early is allowed to rank up to the max level of a game before it's relesed?

They're doing this for two reasons:

1) To make it fair.

2) It's not ready yet.

If you read the Xbox article, the guy said that the guy's console was, "already an old model". Besides, they're not even banned, they just can't connect to the Internet until it's closer to the release date.

The X1's are only banned until the release day not that big of a deal, though I would still be pissed.
