Xbox One and Kinect video shows off voice dashboard navigation

4.4
Xbox One is barely weeks away but if you just can’t wait to see how Microsoft’s new console functions, here’s a video showing off dashboard navigation using Kinect-powered voice commands.

The video shows a user switching the console on; loading a video, opening the activity feed; joining a game; recording footage; sharing the captured footage; watching TV; snapping to Internet Explorer; accepting a Skype call; and switching the console off – all in an unrealistically short period of time.

The video was posted on the freshly-updated Xbox One section of Xbox.com, which is full of things you already know, but neatly collated.

The Xbox One launches on November 22 in North America, western Europe, and associated PAL territories including Australia and New Zealand. Here’s the video, courtesy of AllGamesBeta.

In my opinion, when they try and go so far with technology, it just takes out the simpleness and makes everything that should be easy, more difficult. Just a waste of time and money in my opinion. I won't work anywhere near as well as in the video.

Dont mind the idea but the cynic in me says that was all too smooth/short i.e. pretty sure they edited out some of the surely inevitable delay to switch games/apps as stuff is loaded into/out of memory?

Even allowing the OS a big chunk of the memory for itself (which of course limits games) this seems way to fast/slick.

Until I see it live myself (which I soon shall) Im assuming this is the XB1 version of that Kinect video showing scanning, etc.

Amp-
JimboSlice Titanfall looks like so much fun and I wonder how close you need to be for the Xbox to hear you.

I think, from an article back. Said that you are able to go three feet further back from what you could with the original Kinect.

3 feet closer. dumb ass

As long as it can pick my voice up from 3-5 meters away i will be happy with it

Lavish I still rather use my controller than plug the Kinect into my xbox.
Just going to tuck it away in a closet.

I couldn't really see myself using the Kinect with the Xbox One. I have never been a big fan of motion controls.

ADaaaMxxx Wouldn't it be quite annoying if someone came into your room and just said "Xbox off" and it turned off when you are in the middle of a game...

Well if you didn't know, it has voice recognition, so you can set it to your voice only..

Thanks for saying that because I didn't know that, otherwise it would be pretty annoying.

i was thinking the same thing partys are also gonna be annoying with everyone shouting at their xbox to do stuff lol

Just turn the Kinect off at parties..

even if i turn mine off others will still have theirs on and yelling at their xbox everyone else would have to shut theirs off aswell

I can see this being kind of annoying, but if you're all playing the same game, it really doesn't matter.

i guess i shouldnt really have to much of a problem either way aslong as im not in game chat very few of my friends even use kinect
