Apple reveals iPad Air, thinner and faster

4.5
Apple today refreshed their iPad lineup with a brand new generation of 9.7" tablet. Sharing the exterior design of the existing iPad mini, just with a larger screen, the device is noticeably thinner and only weighs 1 Pound.

The device includes an A7 processor which will power the same retina display that has been present since 'the new iPad', released early last year. It has double the graphics performance - 72x faster than the original iPad, and 8x faster a CPU than the first.

Other improvements include dual microphones and two antennas for twice the data transfer rates.

The iPad will continue to complete with Microsoft's Surface 2, which was put on sale today. The invite for this event stated that "We still have a lot to cover," suggesting a new case or keyboard cover for the iPad, but for now we await such an announcement.

On sale starting at $499 for a 16GB Wi-Fi model, and will ship November 1st.

Rano Might actually get this, looks great!

It shouldn't be a bad purchase if you haven't owned an apple tablet yet. If you already own one it's just more of the same in my opinion

Lavish
SliceFX This just gets worse and worse. This needs to stop...

I would love to ask you how it is getting worse and worse?
It is getting better and better if anything.

Becoming faster, better displays, and even thinner over the years.
I'm on about Apple milking their products, as usual...

I think that Apple are really running out of any innovative ideas and it seems to coincide with Steve Jobs' death that the company has lost all ideas to make its products better.

Just my opinion,

Even newbies can be right. The iPad is what it is...as the iPhone is what it is. They are both iPod Touch devices which Jobs stated was the training wheels for the iPhone. If you had owned the original iPad, you will see basically they took the OS and just made it bigger without even making adjustments for the larger screen. This didn't happen until the iPad 2. In fact, like Android, iOS apps for iPad are just redone to fit on the tablet. When Apple says it has 300,000 unique iPad apps, it is simply not true. Most of those apps appeared on iPhone first and were redone to HD for the iPad.

The ipad seems cool, might consider buying it sometime this year.
