PlayStation 4 features and UI shown off in leaked video

A video revealing the features and UI of the PlayStation 4 console from Sony has been uploaded to YouTube and was posted to our forums by Audioboxer.

The leaked video which has been recorded in French comes with commentary from the uploader where he outlines features such as Trophies, PSN Store, Profiles, Messages, Friends list, etc.

Sony announced the PlayStation 4 back in February, but has been revealing its features in parts over the past few months. The initial launch just showed off the DualShock 4 controller while the design of the console was revealed in June. PlayStation 4 will arrive in stores during the Holiday season and will go head to head with Microsoft's Xbox One in the next-gen console wars.

The PlayStation 4 launches in the US on November 15 and in Europe on November 29.

idonteveninto i don't get why everyone is crying over the menu and saying it's nearly the same as the ps3's
does nobody care to mention that the xbox 360, xbone, windows 8, and windows phone menu's all look the exact same?
this shouldn't matter anyway, it's the games that should

Maybe because the Xbox 360 dashboard is already relatively new, and even newer coming with the Xbox One. This is a barely upgraded version on the PS3 dashboard. It's 2013 now and they've haven't even made drastic changes in 7 years prior to the PS4's release. That's why.

It amazes me how everyone can ***** about something like this. The way the UI is set up isn't going to prevent you from doing anything that you were able to from before, and we don't know for sure what new things we'll be able to do until we have it in our hands next month. People need to worry less about how the UI is and worry more about the games that are coming out.

its ok ill keep a simier ui if it means ill have a smoother experience because im useing gddr5 instead of ddr3 thats in my 4-5 year old laptop i have lol

The UI looks similar to the PS3 that doesn't bother me that much at the end of the day you are going to be playing games or doing something else within apps you are not going to be looking at the dashboard all the time people need to grow up.

Looks like you won't be getting either PS4 or XbOne as they both have similar UI's. Good luck, you probably didn't even have the money for it any who xD

Let me make some valid points, one people are concerned that the ps4 is to plain but you can change it to numerous things, 2 better hardware such as the ps4 has leads to better gameplay and better software as the compatibly to be changed more adding more things to it. and i have always been an xbox player but i am switching to the ps4 as they impress me much more. microsoft i think is to worried how things look like not what it does. sony cares about their hardware which leads to a much better experience. so dont decide on just whose UI looks better. its like getting a laptop because its red instead of for the specs so i suggest you go for the specs else you would be very disappointed in the quality and regret ever getting it in the first place, so i would do well to consider all these things

lol if anything the UI for the ps3 and ps4 is relatively more user-friendly. things aren't jam packed and cluttered in menus (aka the xbox).
