Valve demonstrates Steam Controller in new video

4.5
Valve issued a video demonstrating its Steam Controller today. The game pad, which features two track pads in lieu of joysticks, is used for its series of Steam Machines, announced in September.

The controller shown in the video isn't final hardware, but rather a prototype controller lacking a touchscreen to be included in Valve's hardware beta program. Among the developers that have seen the controller, Super Meat Boy developer Team Meat said it was able to execute some of the game's more demanding moves on the pad.

Developing Not many people like change. You are scared.

Agreed. IMO this looks like a great controller, with a bunch of innovations. Besides, Valve rarely disappoints me.

Brad- Still doubt it will compete with standalone consoles like Xbox or Playstation :/

I don't see that happening either. I'm sure it will do well in it's own regard but there is no way it will touch either of the big consoles

Third_Eye Seems like the kinda product you really gotta try for yourself to understand and judge. I wonder how it feels to play a shooter like CoD being that it mimics the way a mouse works. Probably gonna cost like $50 tho

That sounds like the price, and I think it will be bad for FPS MP games

I think it will be terrible fir fps games to.I could be wrong but The touchpad looks like it would be pretty close to useing the touch pad on a laptop. I tried playing wot with the touchpad on my laptop, it was not a good time.

looks absolutely stunning, the design is fine, the gameplay looks smooth. I wouldn't mind playing Civ V with that.
