Rockstar working on a fix for lost GTA Online characters

Rockstar says it's working on a fix for an issue that has resulted in some players losing their GTA Online characters.

A substantial number of players have reported that characters they spent time developing have inexplicably vanished, forcing them to restart the game from the beginning. Some users have also lost items, apartments, cars and in-game money.

"We have received reports from some players who experienced losing characters, progress, items, and/or in-game cash during the first few days after release," Rockstar said in a statement posted its online support page.

"We are working diligently to identify and correct the causes for these losses, as well as to establish how best to restore any lost progress and value. If you would like to receive an automatic email notification as soon as there is more information about this, please log into the Support Site."

Other known issues currently being investigated include:

General network/cloud server issues
"Rockstar Cloud Servers Unavailable" error message
"Failed to Host a GTA Online Session" error messages
Errors saying "Timed out when matchmaking for a compatible GTA Online Session to join"
Errors about jobs failing to start or load
Misc. network and server-related error messages, disconnections, or cloud server errors
Errors saying "Mission Failed" as soon as the mission begins during a session
Long matchmaking load screens, eventually timing out after 10-15 minutes
Offline (disc-based) and online content mixing on the Jobs list
Ending up in a free-roam session with no jobs/markers on the map while playing as a temporary character during a cloud outage
Retail monitor Chart-Track said today that UK GTA 5 sales have surpassed those of the game's predecessor, 2008's GTA 4, in just three weeks.

-Skillz Glad they gave everyone 500k

Well sense there is money glitches 500k really is not a lot but its nice of them to do.

500k is better than none.
I just wish they didn't have this major of a problem in the first place.

It did have a lot of players and they weren't expecting this, but 500k is worth anything now most people have 5x that.

Although I lost way more than $500k it is still nice that they know there is a problem they have to fix.

PawnStars Don't worry it will be fixed in a year or so

Maybe even sooner if there weren't so many people playing at the same time.

Gotta_Have_It Hopefully must users get their characters back, but I reckon some will be completely lost.

That would be me...

I sold my copy already

I wouldn't go as far as selling my copy as I do enjoy the single player too but the online was a big let down for me and a lot of others even though they warned us before hand.
