Warcraft movie comes to theaters December 18, 2015

Warcraft is due in theaters on December 18, 2015, from Legendary and Universal Pictures, the official World of Warcraft account tweeted today.

The film is based on Blizzard's longstanding Warcraft universe, directed by Duncan Jones. Jones is the director of Moon and Source Code, and he happens to be David Bowie's son. Take that one to trivia night, folks.

Warcraft originally had Sam Raimi as director, but he bailed to take on Oz: The Great and Powerful. The project is sticking with a script by Charles Leavitt, the writer of Blood Diamond and K-PAX. Filming begins January 13, 2014.

Brigand I think the movie will only be fun for people who have played WoW.

More than likely that will be the case.

Mortar I really don't like the idea of movies based on games, they don't tend to work, end of. I can't see the appeal in a World of Warcraft movie in any way.

I'm hoping that they can actually manage to pull this one off. While there have been various failed movies based on games i would really like to see a good one be released.

Pedroia That is a pretty long time.

That is about the time any animated movie takes to make.
Nemo? Yeah, took years and years to make because of it being 100% animations.

Although I don't play WoW, I still plan to go see this movie to see what it is about.

For the people that are saying it is a long ways away - This is how long it takes to make animated movies. YEARS. Normally they just don't tell you it is in production until 6 months or a few months until its release.
