GTA V 'crash errors' reported on older Xbox 360 consoles

4.5
Owners of older Xbox 360 consoles are reporting freeze and crashing errors when playing Grand Theft Auto V.

According to a number of members of unofficial forum GTAforums (via Kotaku), the problems usually occur during the first driving section of GTAV featuring Franklin.

It appears the vast majority of complaints are being made by players with consoles manufactured or refurbished between 2006 and 2008.

"Once the driving portion of Franklin's first mission starts, the game randomly freezes, forcing me to reboot the Xbox," the first complaint reads.

"There is no precursor for the game locking up, it appears to happen completely randomly and at different times during the mission. It has locked up on me early in the mission when Franklin's buddy calls up on the cell phone just after the driving starts. It has locked up during the second portion of the driving mission when the cops are chasing. I'm not sure what to do."

Later, the user reported that he had contacted Rockstar technical support with the issue and was told that "they are still in the process of gathering data and trying to determine if this is something that is patchable".

Until then, another forum user received this advice from Xbox technical support, and claims it solved the problem for them.

1. Delete all GTAV game data.
2. Clear system cache three times.
3. Delete marketplace data from storage system items.
4. Unplug console for three minutes.
5. Install disc 1.
6. Power off, do not insert disc 2.
7. Restart.
8. Install disc 2.
9. Play.

Perkins I'm playing on a original xbox 360 and haven't this once I do have a elite hard drive on it thow

I asked my friends who own Xbox's and they all had their game crash, I feel bad for them as this shouldn't happen with a $300M game.

This is a billion dollar game now and it still has the crashes. I'm just hoping that they are putting some of those profits towards fixing these bugs along with all other glitches.

Lucky for me I have the newer "slim" model of the console. I doubt they would have this problem at all on the Xbox one.

Aggie I have an Xbox from 2009 and it is having the same problems.

Looks like I have to restart.

I also have an old Xbox but it hasn't happened to me yet

I think it only happens to some. Maybe those who have minimum hard drive space.

I find this unfair as it did happen to me a few times

If I get these crash errors I'll be so mad, they should fix it ASAP.

They will fix it ASAP I think they fixed the iFruit app quickly but I never had problems with it in the first place but I am sure Rockstar will get on to this as soon as they can only 1 week to go for online now cannot wait.
