GTA V records biggest launch in UK history

Grand Theft Auto V has claimed the record as the biggest UK video game launch in history.

Rockstar's latest title, which launched globally on September 17, managed to sell around 1.57 million units in its first day on sale, pulling in around £65 million, according to Chart Track figures.

How these figures break down by platform went unspecified.

That smashes the previous record held by Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops, which managed 1.41 million units sold and around £58 million in its launch day, November 9, 2010.

The sales figures for GTA V generated from the first day sales were incredible. I think that it was inevitable that GTA V would do so well, what with all the hype and excitement surrounding it.

WWF GTA V deserves it in my opinion they worked for 5 long years on this game.


I agree, they spent 5 years and MILLIONS of dollars in this game, they deserve the amount of sales!


It seems I am following you round the news section lol, but OT the 5 years well spent and money well spent they are probably cracking open the champagne on how much money they have made.

Lightyear That's awesome, I think GTA V is setting launch records across the world at the moment.


And I think it will do for years to come its titles like this that will be fun to play fpor a long time I still like playing GTA IV on the multiplayer so when they release the MP for GTA V I think it is going to be awesome for ages.


I think that it will also... I want to see all the blimps that are being used in the multiplayer lol...


Me too that would be funny but the map is big enough to do near enough anything go climb Mount Chiliad that would kill like 2 hours on its own you won't realize the time I just cannot wait for the 1st of October but I haven't even completed the game yet lol.
