Battlefield 4 PS3-to-PS4 upgrade done via in-box code

Specially marked retail copies of Battlefield 4 for PS3 will include a one-time use voucher allowing you to upgrade to the PS4 digital version of the game for a small price. This is how the "discounted" upgrade scheme will work, first announced by Sony president Andrew House last month during the company's Gamescom keynote.

Presumably this is how other eligible PS3 games can transition into their PS4 counterparts, though we've followed up with Sony for confirmation.

Only four games are participating in this promotion as of right now: Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, Watch Dogs and Battlefield 4. The pricing to go from PS3 to PS4 version for each game is determined by the publishers.

That would be cool, Ps4 does have an extra positive point because of this.

That would be an awesome thing, if all companies did this I might still get some games for my PS3.

Its good that both companies are benefiting from this. I do not mind paying the $10 more to upgrade for a PS4 version so I do not have to pay 40 for a game that I already have from the previous gen. The thing I wish most is if they brought back all the old cods and patched them from hacks.

Why is everybody saying "I hope xbox does this." They ARE doing it. They've been doing it since COD Ghosts had its multiplayer reveal. Just buy your copy from GameStop and you can upgrade for 10 bucks on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
