People still mostly buy physical copies of games

4.5
This perhaps shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but America still loves its boxes. As reported by Gamasutra, the NPD says that 90 percent of sales in Q3 2009 were attributed to boxed copies of games. If you're not so good with the math, that means only 1 out of 10 games was distributed digitally. That average drops to 79 percent if you lump together portables, PC/Mac, mobile, and smartphones, but that's still pretty darn impressive.

We have the same preference as the rest of the country, but only because we can't hang digitally distributed games from the ceiling tiles of our dorm room to give it a hip, edgy look

It is becasue you can't get refunds for downloaded games. Most games I buy, I keep the seal intact, put it back over the opening of the box and return for a full refund, I can't do that with downloads

Well the value of just have the physical copy over a digital copy is different because the digital one isn't "real" if u know what I mean :P

I like buying Physical copies of games because then i can stare at the box and be like "ooooooh shiny".

Plus downloading games just takes up too much of my time. I would rather get a game when outside where my health is risky........seems like a challenge to make it all the way to game lol

I just like having all the boxed to look at and it does take alot of memory to download full games.

With the amount of memory it takes to download at this point in time this news still isn't that surprising
