Activision Planning November Release For Vietnam-era Call of Duty?

4.7
There’s been quite a bit of chatter this week about where and when Activision’s juggernaut Call of Duty franchise will be heading for its next tour, and if recent reports are to be believed, players will be shipping off to Vietnam this holiday season.

Sources tell CVG that Call of Duty: World at War developer Treyarch have set a tentative release date of November for the acclaimed shooter’s seventh installment. Continuing the series’ cinema-inspired presentation, the game is expected to borrow heavily from films such as Platoon, Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket (Can you say R. Lee Ermey as a drill instructor?).

With EA taking a stab at modern warfare with their Medal of Honor reboot, it would be quite fitting for Activision to try their hand at Nam, six years after the release of EA’s Battlefield: Vietnam. Also, considering Treyarch’s last effort took place in the tropical environs of the Pacific Theater, it would seem they already have a head start on the whole jungle warfare thing.

While it certainly makes sense for CoD to finally take on the fertile setting of the Vietnam War, Activision and Treyarch are keeping quiet for now. I’ve contacted Activision to see if they have anything to say about all of this, so stay tuned.

Do you think this game could be better than Modern Warfare 2?

well i think that mw2 is awesome, but it had the potential to be so much more. i mean 200+ glitches found in the first month!

However i thought that treyarch failed with cod 5 as well (online because they basically added the same engine from cod4, and added crapper weapons and maps and 2 new game modes. But zombies were pwnage!

i think it will be intresting to see treyarch to make a modern (ish) game.

i think infinity ward are better than treyarch, but i don't think that treyarch have had a fair chance, for example treyarch couldnt add something as pwnage as an ac-130 or a chopper gunner in cod 5 because they wernt made then.

The only thing they could do off the timeline was zombies. And that was a win!

What i would like to see is treyarch make a modern warfare so they can let loose like they did with zombies.

They are adding the M16A1 aren't they? And a little bit later models of the M4? Perhaps M4A2?

they cant exactly add many weapons? most will have been used up in the WAW game

looks pretty promising, with all these developers learning from their mistakes, these games should just keep getting better and better :D

Treyarch get my vote and if they resurrect Zombies that'll be a sure fire winner

Vietcong Zombies

Yeah i,know what you mean Andy.

I liked WaW but Mw2 had more gun attachments to unlock. More guns and cooler perks in my opinion.

The rest of the game is quite simply awful though.
