Xbox One Vs. Xbox 360: Voice chat quality comparison

4.5
Microsoft has released two sound files to compare the Xbox 360's voice chat with that of the vastly improved Xbox One.

Microsoft will come bundled with a new, higher quality voice chat headset which, combined with new audio codecs, will result in far clearer voice chat between Xbox One users.

"Thanks to integration with Skype's audio codec, which has a proven track record of high-quality voice through billions of hours of use within Skype, as well as dedicated audio processing, Xbox One offers higher quality voice chat with the Xbox One Chat Headset compared to Xbox 360," said Microsoft.

"The Xbox One Wireless Controller's new expansion port dramatically expands the data transfer rate between the controller and console," it adds.

"Combined with Skype's audio codec, this enables crystal-clear digital audio with the Xbox One Chat Headset, both capturing and rendering speech at 24 KHz PCM, which is triple the rendering sample rate and a 50 percent capture rate improvement over Xbox 360 headsets."

Check out the audio comparison below

Xbox One will launch in 13 markets this November. The Xbox One price has been set at £430 / €500 / $500.

GAME is once again taking pre-orders for Xbox One Day One Edition consoles after halting them at the weekend.

Xbox One Day One Edition consoles come with a commemorative controller, a code to unlock an exclusive Achievement, and - in Europe - a free digital copy of FIFA 14.

There is such a huge improvement with the voice quality it's crazy! so crystal clear!

Mortar The sound quality is much better, this will hopefully translate to those who use the Kinect to communicate as the current Kinect, when used as a microphone is pretty terrible.

I usually just mute people who have the kinect mic, it is outright terrible sound quality.

I hope it translates over as well. :)

Wow the Xbox One has much better sound quality, I always thought the 360 had pretty good sound quality but this is much better.

JPEG That sounds pretty rad, though I'll have a headset so I dont really care, my voice will be crystal clear anyways.

What matters is how you will hear the other players voices, more clear communication will make the gaming experience much better

Oh that was so annoying. Especially when you tell them they're lagging and they continue to talk, and it sounds so stupid lol. Hopefully doesn't happen as much.

The lagging part just can't be fixed.

Lightyear Wow, that is an amazing improvement, I hope PS4 gets decent voice chat now.

PS4 barely put any emphasis on chatting.

Impossibility yeah lag spikes might ruin this

I don't get this logic? Lag spikes ruin everything in general, not the quality.
